ECCO has prepared and is continuously updating the hygiene and safety measures according to Austrian and in particular Viennese regulations.

As a pre-condition for this congress to be approved as a continuing medical educational event, a COVID-19 prevention concept has to be submitted and approved by the health authorities. The COVID-19 prevention concept includes particular trained staff monitoring the safety measures throughout the congress center. All registered Congress delegates are obliged to follow their instructions.

Where can I find information on travel regulations to/from Austria?

Please check the current travel information provided by the Federal Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection here and government requirements in Vienna here.

Which entrance regulations to the congress center do apply?

All registered Congress delegates need to be vaccinated and show a valid vaccination proof upon first entry into the congress center. Make sure that the vaccine you received has been approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA). Information on approved vaccines within the European Union can be found on the homepage of the European Commission or EMA directly.

Please note that as a registered Congress delegate, you will not be granted access to the congress center by only providing a valid negative PCR, Antigen or Antibody test certificate.

I recently recovered from COVID-19 and am not vaccinated. Can I get access to the congress center?

No, access is only possible with a valid vaccination proof.

What if I cannot get vaccinated due to medical reasons?

Unfortunately, we cannot grant any exceptions, all registered Congress delegates need to be vaccinated in order to enter the congress center.

You can follow the scientific programme on the Virtual Congress Platform until May 31, 2022.

Can I get access to the congress center with a valid negative PCR, Antigen or Antibody test certificate only?

No, our regulation is that every registered Congress delegate needs to be vaccinated in order to access the congress center.

Which documents do I need to prepare for the entrance checks at the congress center?

Please show

  • a valid vaccination proof

It must be issued by a national or state-level public health authority and be in English or German. Further, as a minimum it needs to include: full name, date of birth, vaccine brand and manufacturer, date of vaccination and country or territory of vaccination and/or certificate issuer.

You can provide this proof either digitally or printed.  

We highly recommend to use the EU Digital COVID Certificate.

  • a personal identification (passport, ID card)
  • if your registration has been sponsored, please make sure to collect your badge from the group leader prior to entering the congress center.

Do I have to have my vaccination proof ready at all times?

Before entering the congress center for the first time, our onsite staff will check your vaccination status and will hand out wristbands upon successful completion of the check.

The wristband is proof of your valid vaccination status throughout the congress days and will allow you to use the COVID-19 check fast lane on all subsequent days.

In case you lose your wristband, your vaccination status will need to be re-verified.

How can I speed up the entrance to the congress center and the registration process?

We highly recommend to register in advance and print out your fast track barcode voucher. Make sure that you have your valid vaccination proof (either digitally or in paper) and your ID at hand when entering the congress center.

We strongly advise to have your vaccination status checked well in time before the programme starts, ideally a day prior to your first entry at the congress center.

I am not feeling well. What do I do?

Please do not attend the event if you

  • experience any of the following symptoms: high temperature, a new continuous cough, a shortness of breath or sudden loss of taste or smell.
  • have been tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 10 days.
  • have come into close contact with a high risk or infected person within the last 10 days.

If you suspect that you might be infected and are already in Austria, please call the health hotline 1450 (free of charge; English-speaking possibility) and self-quarantine yourself until further instructed by the health authorities.

When do I need to arrive at the congress center?

Please do calculate with sufficient time for the entrance checks and registration.

We highly recommend to arrive approximately 1h before the start of your educational activity or programme that you would like to attend.

We strongly advise to have your vaccination status checked well in time before the programme starts, ideally a day prior to your first entry at the congress center.

What do I need to show at the entrance to the congress center?

Please note that in order to access the congress center you need to be vaccinated.

Do I need to wear a facemask in the congress center?

For your own safety, we highly recommend you to wear a FFP2 facemask during your congress visit.

What precautions can I take?

We kindly ask you to follow the general hygiene recommendations:

  • Please keep social distance at all times.
  • Regularly wash and/or disinfect your hands.

Hand sanitisers are provided in all bathrooms and catering areas as well as throughout the congress center.

  • Follow the one-way guidance system where in place and respect the separate entrances and exits in the course rooms.
  • For your own safety, we highly recommend you to wear a FFP2 facemask during your congress visit.
  • Avoid shaking hands or other physical contact

Please follow hygiene instructions posted throughout the congress center as well as security instructions by staff members.

Should you experience any of the following symptoms: high temperature, a new continuous cough, a shortness of breath or sudden loss of taste or smell, please put on an FFP2 mask and approach security or other staff members onsite immediately.

Do I get notified if there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 at the congress?

Yes, you will receive an e-mail notification.
