Words of welcome

Dear ECCO IBD Community,
Dear Friends,

I’d like to extend my warmest welcome to ECCO’23. After two online editions, we will finally have a physical congress at the Bella Centre in Copenhagen on March 1-4, 2023.

It is really exciting for us to hold the entire programme onsite and enjoy again the face-to-face interaction that we have missed so much. We honestly appreciate the contribution of all the outstanding professionals of IBD who will participate as chairs and speakers and make this Congress a great experience for us all.

This year’s Scientific Programme theme is “Sequencing in IBD”. Amongst its highlights there are topics like “Can we do better with current drugs”, “Vascular complications in IBD: an overlooked problem” and “Optimising surgical outcomes”. We also look forward to the ECCO Lecture given by Dr. Gillian Watermeyer: “IBD - a Sub-Saharan African perspective”.

Those delegates who cannot travel to Denmark are invited to join us online through the virtual platform, where we will be live-streaming the entire Scientific Programme as well as the ten DOPs sessions.

We feel really proud of the fantastic fifteen courses of our cutting-edge Educational Programme that will take place at the Congress venue. Some of them were not initially planned for this year but due to the existing high demand and success we will offer them again.

Take the time to visit the poster exhibition. We are delighted about the high number of abstracts received this year and the extraordinary content of our reviewed selection will be displayed at the congress venue.

The ECCO Booth is located in Hall E and the Industry Exhibition can be found in Hall C where vibrant exchange is expected with our industry partners. Check out our ECCO IBD App if you want to be up-to-date and make sure you don’t miss out on our ECCO Interaction evening on Friday.

It is happening - We are going to have a physical congress.

Yours sincerely,

Laurent Peyrin-Biroulet
ECCO President 2020-2023
