Airport information

The Barcelona airport “El Prat de Llobregat” is located 12 km southwest the city. It takes approximately 20-25 minutes by car to the city centre.

Airport Public Transport Service

By bus: The Airport Bus (Aerobus, Line A1) takes you every 6-15 minutes from the airport to the city centre (e.g. Placa Espana or Placa de Catalunya) in about 20-30 minutes.

Airport Bus stops are in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 (A, B, C)

Single tickets cost you appr. EUR 5,90, return-tickets EUR 10,20. You can buy your ticket from the staff at the bus stops (payment only in cash), at the automatic sales machines (payment by credit card) or by paying the bus driver (payment only in cash).

The timetable from the airport to the centre of Barcelona (Plaça de Catalunya) is every day of the week (Monday to Sunday) from 06:10 to 01:05.

For the other direction of departure: Timetable from the city centre (Plaça de Catalunya) to the airport, every day of the week (Monday to Sunday) from 05:30 to 00:30.

By Taxi: When leaving the arrival halls, please look for the signs for the nearest taxi stand. An average journey by taxi from the Barcelona Airport to downtown takes about 20-30 minutes and costs appr. EUR 25,00 one-way (incl. surcharge for the luggage).

By Train (Cercanias de Renfe): The airport train (line 10, operated by RENFE) departs every 30 minutes to the city centre (stops with metro-connection: Barcelona Sants or Passeig de Gracia). You can purchase a T10 ticket (valid for 10 journeys with metro FCG, bus, tram lines and RENFE) at any metro stop or at the entrance to the RENFE train platform at Barcelona Airport for EUR 9,80. A single ticket for airport train until Barcelona Sants Station costs EUR 3,80. For further travel you will need then an extra ticket for the public transport (single tickets EUR 1,45). The airport train stop is at Terminal 2, to go to Terminal 1 there is a shuttle bus.

Public transportation

Public transportation is by far the easiest way to get around the city. The Barcelona buses and subway are quick, cheap and all-around excellent. Taxi service is available everywhere in the city. However on weekend nights the waiting time might be long.
