Call for ECCO Fellowships, Grants and Travel Awards
ECCO Fellowships, Grants and Travel Awards are available to encourage young physicians in their career and to promote innovative scientific research in IBD in Europe.
In 2021, ECCO will award the ECCO Pioneer Award for the fourth time.

ECCO Pioneer Award

Deadline: June 3, 2020
Purpose: Promote visionary, innovative, and inter-disciplinary collaborative research projects in the field of IBD
Target audience: Basic and/or clinical scientists
Place of research: Collaboration between minimum of 2 IBD Centres
ECCO Membership: Required (all group applications)
Prize: EUR 300,000
Number of awards available: 2
Duration of funding: 2 years

ECCO Multi-Year Research Grant
Deadline: June 3, 2020 - extended until July 31, 2020
Purpose: To encourage and support innovative basic and/or clinical scientific research in the area of IBD across Europe with the following selected topics:
• Evaluation of novel modalities of disease monitoring in patients treated with JAK inhibitors (e.g. ultrasound/RMN/fibrosis evaluation)
• Early disease control via JAK inhibition
Target audience: Basic and/or clinical scientists
Place of research: Collaboration between minimum of 2 IBD Centres from different countries
ECCO Membership: Required (all group applications)
Prize: EUR 200,000

ECCO Grant

Purpose: Promote innovative scientific research in IBD in Europe
Target audience: Young basic and/or clinical scientists not older than 40 years, or if above than being within 5 years after finishing GI training or PhD graduation.
Place of research: In own institute

Target audience: Young scientists not older than 40 years or still in training
Place of research: Hosting institute outside one’s own country

Purpose: Support IBD research, with a focus on retrospective observational research projects using a registry tool. Priority will be given to research projects which include the use of the United Registries for Clinical Assessment and REsearch (UR-CARE).

ECCO-IBUS Intestinal Ultrasound Research Grant
Deadline: June 3, 2020 - extended until August 31, 2020
Purpose: support clinical excellence in the investigation of utility of intestinal ultrasound used in the assessment of patients with inflammatory bowel disease
Target audience: Candidates should be established within clinical units with expertise in inflammatory bowel disease, with established expertise in performance of intestinal ultrasound with routine access to an ultrasound machine

ECCO-AOCC Visiting Travel Grant

Purpose: Offering European and Asian investigators exchange visits to IBD Centres in Asia or Europe, respectively
Target audience: Young scientists not older than 40 years or still in training
Place of research: Hosting institute outside one’s own country
ECCO Membership: ECCO-AOCC Visiting Travel Grant applicants and their hosts need to be ECCO or AOCC Members respectively (at the time of application)
Prize: EUR 10,000

ECCO Travel Award
